Off-label and investigational use
Most ketamine therapy described here is off-label or partially off-label. FDA-approved indications are limited to anesthesia and, for esketamine, treatment-resistant depression and major depressive disorder with acute suicidal ideation under the Spravato REMS program. Off-label use is not inherently unsafe, but it changes the regulatory and safety picture in ways every reader should understand.
